Learn More about Video Production: You Can Do It!
There are many ways to learn about video production.
MiND Training Workshops
MiND offers many monthly workshops in program development, writing, equipment purchases, studio production, location production, editing, and design to our members. Check out the upcoming Boot Camps and advanced training workshops: www.mindtv.org/training.
Learning Solo
For some people, hands-on learning is the best way to develop skills. Buy or borrow a camcorder and a computer with editing software, and off you go. Make a video program, then another, and in time, you will become proficient. Use the internet to get your questions answered—there are many message boards available (including the MiND Message Board, where we encourage producers to share ideas and techniques).
TV Made Easy
MiND’s original series about video production is produced by Independence Media and by MiND’s members. As you learn, please take the time to teach others in the community. For a complete list of “TV Made Easy” programs, go to www.mindtv.org, and enter “TV Made Easy” in the search panel. To trade ideas about which TV Made Easy programs to produce, visit the MiND Message Board.
High School, College and Adult Education Courses
In the Philadelphia area, numerous colleges and universities offer media production courses. Check your local community college for a reasonably-priced course.
The Scribe Video Center
Philadelphia is home to an extraordinary educational center, The Scribe Video Center. Founded in 1982, Scribe is a place where community members learn media making skills. Scribe offers hands-on courses on documentary work, shooting, scripting, editing and more. MiND endorses Scribe’s high artistic and educational standards, and wholeheartedly suggests that MiND members make good use of Scribe’s educational programs and community orientation.
