Making MiND Programs
If you’re a member of MiND, you may be an experienced television or video producer with easy access to the people, equipment and skills required to make a first-class MiND program. Or, you may be someone with an idea, or a story to tell, but without any real knowledge or resources.
To all of you, we say "Welcome to MiND!"
And, congratulations, you are on your way to becoming a MiND producer!
What does a MiND producer do?
A producer is the person who moves the project from concept to completion. He or she may provide technical or creative or content expertise; may shoot or may work with someone with superior technical skills; may write or may work with a writer; may direct the on-camera performers, or may supervise others who do so. Every producer learns to make video programs through a combination of observation, instruction, hands-on experience, and figuring it all out along the way.
Here are some tips to make the process easier, and, hopefully, fun:
Ask Someone You Know!
Ask around, and you’ll probably find someone you know who can handle shooting, editing, and delivery of a competent 5-minute program.
DIY! Learn to Do-It-Yourself.
At first, this may seem daunting, but the basics aren’t difficult to learn. You need a miniDV camcorder, a tripod, a microphone, and a computer that allows you to edit at a reasonably high level of quality.
Let MiND Train You!
MiND offers workshops in program development, writing, equipment purchases, studio production, location production, editing, and design to our members. Check out News & Events for upcoming member workshops!
