Why work at MiND?

MiND: Media Independence is a nonprofit organization that owns one of the few completely independent public television stations in the USA. We've decided to use that television station to present an innovative approach to public media (our world includes not only television, but the internet, and, soon, mobile as well). We operate in an organization dedicated to public media for the public good, to a local and global outlook, to the education of our communication. We've taught more than a thousand people how to tell their stories through video, and in just a few years, we've established MiND as one of the most innovative organizations in the public media landscape. We invite you to become a part of the adventure.

Job Openings

Presently, all of MiND's jobs are based in our Philadelphia headquarters. For details about open positions, please follow the links below. And do check back for new postings from time to time.

We do post all openings in this space, and, from time to time, elsewhere on the internet. But everything appears here first.

Interns

MiND's internship program has become a local legend. We've worked with over 250 college interns. As an intern, you will be expected to do "real work"--research, design, animation, production, marketing, etc.--and, of course, you will do what all interns do--lend a hand anywhere it's needed. Watch MiND: you will see a lot of work done by interns from more than a dozen colleges.

No promises, but we first met some of our staff members when they were interns.

All internship opportunities are posted in this space, and from time to time, elsewhere on the internet. But everything appears here first--and this information is always the most up-to-date.

Volunteers

As a small nonprofit, we're always interested in community members willing to lend a hand. In particular, we always need:

- People who can help with screening events. Generally, there are three specific tasks: encouraging people to attend the screenings, helping with logistics, and attending the event as ushers and guides. Most months, we hold one or two events; some are on weekday evenings, some on weekend afternoons. If you're interested, please Contact Us

- People who can work in our offices, during regular office hours, mostly to help out with viewer mail and email and to answer questions about our programming, donation programs, memberships, and more. If you're interested in working a minimum of 12 hours per week, and you can easily get to and from Roxborough, and you have experience in office work, please Contact Us

- Media industry professionals who want to work on a 5-minute program. For experienced, credentialed volunteers, we can arrange for use of our equipment for top-flight projects produced for MiND by volunteer professionals. This is a limited program. If you're interested, please send an email describing your project, with a resume and credit list, to us.
