Community Participation
The key to MiND’s reinvention of TV is the deep and wide involvement of a community that believes media can change the world.
We’re based in Philadelphia, but it’s easy for anyone, anywhere in the world, to be a part of MiND’s community. We hope you will join us.
Watch:
If we’re doing good work at MiND, viewers will learn, and may be inspired to make the world a better place. For most people, this level of involvement is both satisfying and sufficient… and we’re honored to be a part of your life.
You can watch MiND on TV in the Philadelphia area on channel 35. You can watch MiND on the web at www.mindtv.org anywhere in the world.
Become a Member:
There are many reasons why people, companies and organizations become MiND members. Here are some of them:
Check out the benefits enjoyed by MiND members!
Tell Your Story:
Produce, collaborate, get the stories out there so that others will learn about the ideas, the people, the causes that make a difference in your life. Share your ideas and tell your stories.
Invest in MiNDShare: The Community Investment Fund:
MiNDShare: Community Investment Fund makes it possible for us to train MiND members so they can produce MiND programs. It also provides funding for co-productions between MiND and non-profit groups. And, it provides scholarships for non-profits who want to be MiND members, but lack the necessary resources.
Join Our Community Advisory Board (Philadelphia-area only):
Our Community Advisory Board (“CAB”) discusses important social issues, and ways in which MiND’s community can make a difference. The ideas, voices, and concerns addressed by the CAB provide MiND with important perspectives and insights into our community. This meeting is held in person at MiND’s offices, so in-person attendance is required. Contact: kkunda@mindtv.org
Volunteer / Contribute Your Time and/or Skills:
A community is only as strong as its volunteer help. We welcome volunteers with and without video production skills. As you might expect, MiND is a fun place to work, filled with people with interesting ideas and a desire to change the world.
To learn more about volunteering, send an email with your interests and your personal/professional background.
Become an Intern:
From the very first days of MiND’s early development, interns have played a role. So far, we’ve worked with over 100 interns from over a dozen colleges and universities. To learn more, visit www.independencemedia.org/internship.html
Spread the Word:
If you can help us to tell the world about MiND, contact Kim Kunda.
Collaborate:
We can’t do this alone. (Nor do we want to.) We regularly collaborate with organizations to develop MiND programs, and funding opportunities. We encourage individuals to collaborate with one another to develop and fund MiND programs. MiND works best as a community effort. Contact: membership@mindtv.org
Become a Major Giver:
Although we strongly emphasize our independence, more than half of MiND’s funding is provided by Federal and state government sources. We would like to change that formula. We would like to be funded, in large part, by individual members of the community. If you believe in MiND, and you can provide significant funding, we welcome your participation in our community as a Major Giver. Contact: membership@mindtv.org
