MiNDShare:
The
Community Investment Fund
MiND was developed so that every member of the community would have the opportunity to create programs for broadcast on television and on the internet. We believe that a lack of knowledge, resources or skills should not be a barrier to participation in media. In that spirit, we created the MiNDShare Community Investment Fund.
Donations to MiNDShare make it possible for us to provide greater access to media for people who lack the resources.
Specifically, the MiNDShare fund provides:
Video equipment and related resources
MiND has a small amount of video and editing equipment available for community use. As we grow, the demand for (and wear on) this equipment will require us to replace or purchase additional these valuable community resources. MiNDShare offsets the cost of this equipment and ensures that all members will have access to the equipment they need.
Training for individuals and groups so they can create programs
MiND provides production workshops to teach all levels of television production. MiNDShare subsidizes the cost of running these workshops and allows us to continue offering sessions to all members.
Funding for co-productions by community groups and MiND
Often, a community group will have a great idea for a MiND program, a lot of energy and a sense of urgency, but no funding to produce the five-minute program. MiNDShare addresses this problem by providing funding as it becomes available to enable collaborations between MiND producers and community groups to produce programs that will air on MiND.
Scholarships for non-profit organizations
In Philadelphia, many small non-profit organizations fill significant community needs. With MiNDShare, we enable these organizations to make five-minute programs about themselves in an effort to educate viewers about their mission and projects. Priority for the distribution of these funds is given to non-profits with an operating budget of less than $100,000.
