Independence Media is seeking an experienced Researcher to assist in the writing of a new transmedia project.  


  • Possess a wide breadth of knowledge with an equal penchant for diving into uncharted territory.
  • Passion for fact-finding and verifying information as well as tracking and archiving sources.
  • Commitment to accuracy and ability to discern credible sources
  • Regular attendance and active participation in scriptwriting process.
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in journalism, news writing or news producing, social sciences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Writing team in turning dry, “hard hitting” information into entertaining, sometimes humorous, content.  (Think “Daily Show,” John Oliver’s “Last Week Tonight,” etc. but not necessarily related to politics)
  • Strong background or interest in providing accurate information for a variety of assets including video scripts, Info-graphics, Pictorial displays, etc.
  • Research may include providing 5+ links to high-quality sources, and writing a rich summary directly related to the topic/query while adding any insights you gleaned along the way.  
  • Research and suggest authors, writers and other sources for deep analysis on a topic.  
  • Conduct fact-finding interviews or pre-interviews with on-camera guests.
  • Ability to pitch, write and produce transmedia content a plus

  • Ability to balance both creative content with hard facts
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate within team environment.
  • Critical analysis, logical reasoning skills

MiND is currently accepted applications internships and volunteers. All internships require 16-20 hours per week at MiND’s headquarters in Philadelphia.
